Dangerous Places

We had a great party yesterday as Esther and Helen celebrated their birthdays aloha style! At our church meeting this morning Chris was talking about Luke 5. (Download the teaching here - a password is needed!) One thing he said really caught my heart and that was this:

When do we put ourselves in situations where, if God does not step in, we would look totally stupid? The dude who was lowered from the roof by his mates would have been so embarrased and gutted if Jesus did not step in and heal him (after forgiving him!). In fact Jesus loved the faith that they had just to even try and get away with that!

I am sure that Jesus loves it when our faith takes us in to some dangerous places. Maybe they are not physically dangerous but they are ego damagingly dangerous!

My friend Andy Frost sets himself the challenge to scare himself once a week (in terms of exercising his faith). Maybe I should try to get in to some of these dangerous places myself?

Yo John,
When you are desperate, embarrassment and gutted don't come into the equation. Their ingenuity and total belief of the power of our Lord was rewarded. I don't think it even entered their heads that they would fail.
Jesus has a plan for all of us and won't test us beyond that which we can cope. Just being OBEDIENT everyday can be quite challenging.
As is being humble not something some males are good at. :-))

Living as a Christian in the world today is a challenge in it's self particularly in the UK where non believers are declining rapidly and we are slowly descending as is prophesied into the days of Noah.

Holding onto your children for the Lord is as scary as anything. Never take this for granted.
